What i thought of A Long Way From Home

From the online cinema I chose to watch A Long Way From Home by Suzannah Hynes. I thought the way which the film was presented made it very interesting and insightful into the way which other people live their lives, and how the person speaking felt they fitted in and connected with those people. I thought that the sound and location went brilliantly with the mood of the film and the way the girl was speaking along with the music made it a happy contrast, and made me feel as though she struggles to show her happiness.

What attracted me to BA (Hons) Filmmaking course at Manchester Metropolitan University

I have not visited Manchester Metropolitan University for any open days however I was attracted to the course as I would like to have the skills that are needed to become a director, editor, cinematographer, sound designer or producer, and it is exactly the type of course which I want to do. This is because I like to be involved in things and I like to be creative, especially when it comes to film. I also like all of the oppertunitys that the course includes for example exhibiting a film in the final year at the annual degree show. Another thing which has attracted me to the course is that fact that the lecturers and staff are all practicing filmmakers and artists, which is what I would prefer my tutors to be, and I like the fact that they are already involved in filmmaking as a pose to just teaching students and I would also love the opportunity to be tutored by people who have had their work broadcast on ITV, Channel 4 and BBC and have had their work shown in major international film festivals as this makes me feel as though I would be learning from people whi are experienced and can help me in what I want to do. The resources and study facilities are also something which has attracted me to the course such as the onsite material and also the new equipment, something which I have not used due to having only studied in college with small cameras and final cut. Also the workshops and stores, particularly the AV store attracts me to this course as borrowing equpiment for a short period of time would enable me to practice using them and give me an opportunity to gain more skills that are needed for the course and to lead into a job.

Childrens Toys

This is a short horror film which I made 2 years ago when first starting films studies. I made the film completely on my own so therefore took up all of the main roles. The film is about a murderer who has been killing victims and leaving a variety of childrens toys where they were murdered. In the film an innocent girl is attacked and almost killed by the murderer, but luckily escapes. On her return her friend doesn't believe her, but at the end we see that the murderer has been caught, and the innocent girl informs her friend that it was the person who almost got her.

A2 Music Video. Warpaint - Shadows

This is a music video which was for my A2 Media. I was part of a group when making this video which included 2 other people. When making this music video my main roles were the actress, director and I also chose some of the filming locations as well as came up with some of the ideas for it. It is about a girl who feels trapped and struggles to find a way to escape from the city and from reality, as well as the lies she is constantly being told. In the end she dies, but there are two interpretations of the ending; either she escaped by killing herself, or the person feeding her the lies killed her.
